This stone can be worn with the cross being plain gold.
I have also left enough space so that small diamonds can be pavé set in the gold.

First thing is to make a cross.
I made this one out of 18 carat yellow gold. I like the purple of amethyst contrast against the yellow of gold.

Then I cut the five pieces of quartz.
The amethyst was cut from one largish slab.

Then I polish the bottom clear quartz's top and the amethyst's bottoms.
So only clear to clear is laminated together.
I made the bottom piece quite deep, because quartz has a low refractive index, so if it were too shallow, there would be light leakage.

First some resin is poured on the polished top on the clear quartz.
Then the cross and the four top pieces are laid into position, making sure there are no bubbles.
Then the piece is covered, to prevent dust and five days later, the resin is hard.

Then, once the resin had hardened, I pre-formed the stone.

I dop this type of stone with normal two components epoxy, and then apply heat to remove it.

Here is a view of the bottom.
Like I said, it was deep.
